Empowering Poor through Garib Kalyan Melas

Recently I visited Garib Kalyan Mela of Nadiad Region to get first hand report of Garib Kalyan Melas. Here I am sharing the information I gathered.

With the aim of Benefits meant for poor through various schemes,  may reach them directly, eliminating middlemen culture, Narendra Modi lead Government of Gujarat started Garib Kalyan Mela. Monetary benefits meant for poor are directly handed to poor in presence of Chief minister Narendra Modi, Concerned Ministers and Senior Government officials. 

This years Garib Kalyan Mela for Nadiad and Mahudha Taluka of Kheda Districts was held in Nadiad in presences of Chief Whip of Gujarat Assembly Shri Pankajbhai Desai, MLA Matar Shri Devusinh, Gujarat BJP Mahila Morcha President Smt. Leela Ankolia, Kheda District BJP President Shri Sureshbhai Bhatt other BJP office bearers of District.

Monetary Benefits like cheques for construction of houses, purchasing of boats for fishing,  professional Kits like Sewing Machines, Masonry Articles, Cycles and other benefits worth Rs. 3.42 crores was given away to 2839 beneficiaries of Nadiad and Mahudha Taluka (1811 Beneficiaries of Nadiad Taluka got monetary Benefits worth Rs. 1.90 crores and Rs. 1.52 crores worth monetary benefits to 1028 Beneficiaries of Mahudha Taluka)

Empowering Students by giving bicycles 

On the roads outside venue one could see students riding the new bicycles, Masons proudly carrying their equipment on new cycles, women carrying sewing machines while men with New Lorries. 

I took opportunity to talk to some of the beneficiaries "Labharthi" how they felt receiving kits, cheques directly without middlemen, all sounded happy.

I saw two young girls standing with bicycle studying in 9th std and at present wish to study up to 12th. She told me now it would be easier and fun for her to go to school.

 

Here I met Muslim mother and daughter carrying Sewing machine, the young girl has learnt stitching and tailoring and is hopeful she would be able to earn well and lead happy life. The liked the concept of Garib Kalyan Mela.

 This lady, shy, not used to giving interview received cheque of Rs. 21000 under Sardar Patel Housing scheme, plans to renovate house.

Rather than sitting at one place I visited various sections created for the distribution of cheques, I could see happy faces. The government officers, teachers along with bjp karyakartas were distributing cheques to the beneficiaries. I could see total transparency. Beneficiaries had letters carrying information about how much amount they will be receiving and instead of cash cheques were given away. Leaders on Dais sat till the end and saw that every beneficiaries left satisfied.
